Our Morning Routine
2026 - 2027 SCHOOL YEAR
Hello! We all gather together (anywhere) but usually in our 'classroom' but it can be done at the kitchen table, on the sofa, outside, etc.
We start with the sign of the cross, and take turns saying a personal prayer outloud. We each try to say one thing we are thankful for and one intention we would like to pray for. Then, we recite together our Prayer of the Month (more on this below).
Then, we recite our Scripture of the Month. I usually say it the first time and then they repeat after me. We say it each day, the scripture and the name of the passage. So, by the end of the month, it is memorized.
We conclude by listening (and singing) our Song of the Month. I tried to pair the Song and Scripture of the Month so that they have similar themes and we can discuss that together too.
One thing I have noticed in my research about homeschooling is that "the morning routine" is a big topic. Some people refer to it as their "morning basket" or "morning circle time" etc. And, interesting enough, that is actually one of the things I was asked about in my most recent Instagram poll, when I asked my followers 'what type of content they wanted to see'. So, I thought I'd share...
Currently, our Morning Routine consists of 4 things and takes us about 10 minutes.
By spending just 10 minutes each morning gathered together, our children will naturally memorize timeless Catholic prayers, Scripture, and hymns.
